The house later came into the ownership of the 9 th Duke of Devonshire, who leased it out as an Asylum for many years. The interior is sumptuous, worth visiting for the beautifully decorated Blue Velvet room alone. Since it’s one of the most beloved west London neighborhoods, I’ll start with Notting Hill. This part of the city is known for its colorful houses, famous market on Portobello Road, and fun shops and restaurants. For an adrenaline-fueled adventure, head to Oxygen Freejumping in Acton. I lived in the neighborhood for years, and I couldn’t get enough of its lovely mews and elegant houses.Barnes and some of the other London villages to the west have an almost bucolic feel in comparison with the rest of the city. Barnes has several great pubs, including the Sun Inn and Bull’s Head. The latter is on the riverfront just to the north of Barnes Bridge, and makes for a great place to while away a couple of hours of a summer’s evening. Food and Culinary Tour: Indulge your taste buds on a food and culinary tour of West London. Sample delicious treats from local bakeries, explore bustling food markets like Portobello Road Market, and learn about the diverse culinary traditions that have shaped the area’s dining scene. It’s housed in a stunning 19 th century Victorian Gothic building, with one of the grandest entrance halls you’ll ever see. The Hintze Hall was, for many years, home to a massive cast of a diplodocus skeleton.

Westminster district: it is the historical heart of England with its most famous monuments (Palace, cathedral and Westminster Abbey). Like other areas of the capital, West London grew rapidly in the Victorian era as a result of railway-based commuting; with the building of the termini at Paddington and Marylebone, and the lines radiating from them, having a particularly profound effect. This trend continued in the twentieth century and was subsequently reinforced by motorcar-based commuting. If you want to test out the area, you can book a hotel in Kensington here. My favorite is The Baglioni. I’ve stayed here before, and I love the great decor, fun bar, and views over Hyde Park. Right by South Kensington, Earls Court is another of the best west London areas. It often gets overlooked in favor of its neighbor, but this neighborhood is worth exploring in its own right.

Syon Park is between Brentford and Isleworth, in the far west of London, on the road to Hounslow, its westernmost borough.
